Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Chilled glass

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz Absinthe
  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
  • 3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

Ice

Instructions

  • Chill the Glass: Begin by chilling your glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.
  • Absinthe Rinse: In the chilled glass, pour in the absinthe. Swirl it around to coat the interior of the glass, then discard any excess absinthe. This will leave a thin film of absinthe on the glass.
  • Mix the Cocktail: In a shaker, combine the gin, simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice. Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake: Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain: Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the cocktail into the prepared glass that has been rinsed with absinthe.
  • Garnish (Optional): You may garnish with a lemon twist or a sprig of fresh herbs, if desired.

Notes

The absinthe rinse can be adjusted based on personal preference; a more pronounced flavor can be achieved by using more absinthe, while less can provide a subtler hint. This technique can be applied to various cocktails, allowing for creativity in mixology.
