The Agave Julep is a refreshing twist on the classic Mint Julep, substituting traditional bourbon with smooth agave spirits. This cocktail is perfect for warm weather, offering a delightful blend of sweetness and herbal freshness.

Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Julep Cup or Rocks Glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz Agave Syrup
  • 10-12 leaves Fresh Mint
  • Crushed Ice
  • 1 sprig Mint (for garnish) Optionally slap the mint sprig before garnishing.

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing glass, gently muddle the fresh mint leaves with the agave syrup to release their essential oils. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.
  • Add the silver tequila to the mixing glass.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice, then stir gently to combine the ingredients while chilling the mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture into a chilled julep cup or rocks glass filled with more crushed ice.
  • Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint on top.

Notes

For a more intense mint flavor, consider adding a few more mint leaves or infusing the agave syrup with mint beforehand. This cocktail can also be made with mezcal for a smokier profile.
