Equipment

  • highball or hurricane glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Tequila (preferably blanco)
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Grenadine
  • 1 oz Crème de Menthe (green)

Instructions

  • Use a tall, clear glass to showcase the beautiful layers of the drink. A highball or hurricane glass works well.
  • Pour the grenadine into the bottom of the glass slowly to create the first layer. Allow it to settle at the bottom.
  • In a shaker, combine the tequila and fresh lime juice with ice. Shake well and then carefully strain the mixture over the back of a spoon to create the second layer.
  • Gently layer the crème de menthe on top of the tequila and lime mixture by pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon.
  • Do not stir the drink; serve immediately with a straw or a stirrer to maintain the layers.

Notes

For a sweeter drink, adjust the amount of grenadine to taste. Ensure that the ingredients are chilled for the best presentation and flavor. The layering technique requires a gentle hand; pouring slowly is key to achieving distinct layers.
