Ingredients
  

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 2 ounces cachaça
  • Crushed ice

Instructions
 

  • Place the sugar and lime wedges in a sturdy glass.
  • Muddle the lime and sugar together with a muddler to release the lime juice and dissolve the sugar.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  • Pour the cachaça over the ice.
  • Stir well to mix the lime, sugar, and cachaça together.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge, if desired.

Notes

Traditionally, the Caipirinha is made in the glass it's served in, which is usually a rocks glass. The drink is not strained, as the muddled lime pieces are part of its signature look and flavor.
