Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle Claret (Bordeaux) wine 750ml / 25.4oz
  • 2 oz brandy 60ml
  • 3 oz superfine sugar 85g
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda 16oz / 475ml
  • Seasonal berries for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large punch bowl, dissolve the superfine sugar in the lemon juice.
  • Add the sliced orange and lightly muddle to release the citrus oils.
  • Pour in the claret (Bordeaux) wine and brandy, and stir gently to combine.
  • Just before serving, add the sparkling water or club soda and stir once more to mix.
  • Fill the punch bowl with ice cubes or an ice ring to keep the punch chilled.
  • Garnish with seasonal berries if desired.
  • Ladle the punch into individual glasses, making sure to include some of the fruit in each serving.

Notes

Claret Punch is best enjoyed fresh and should be consumed responsibly. The alcohol content can vary depending on the brand of wine and brandy used. Adjust the sweetness to taste by increasing or decreasing the amount of sugar.
