Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters optional
  • 1 Lemon twist or Olive for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the gin and dry vermouth over the ice.
  • If desired, add a dash of orange bitters.
  • Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute.
  • Strain the mix into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive.

Notes

The Dry Martini can also be made with vodka instead of gin, known as a Vodka Martini. The ratio of gin to vermouth can be adjusted to taste, with some preferring a drier martini with less vermouth. Historically, the martini was stirred to prevent clouding the drink, though some prefer it shaken, as popularized by James Bond.
