Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 oz Absinthe
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Ice
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Chill a coupe or cocktail glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, fresh lemon juice, absinthe, Peychaud's bitters, and Angostura bitters.
  • Fill the shaker with ice, covering the liquid.
  • Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Discard the ice water from your glass. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into the chilled glass.
  • Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and drop it in as a garnish.

Notes

The La Louisiane is best enjoyed immediately after preparation to savor its complex flavors. Adjust the amount of bitters to taste, as it can enhance the drink's aromatic profile.
