Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Champagne flute or coupe glass
  • Jigger

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Tequila (preferably Blanco)
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Agave Syrup
  • 3 oz Sparkling Wine (such as Prosecco or Champagne)
  • Lime wheel or twist for garnish

Instructions

  • Begin by chilling a champagne flute or coupe glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside while you prepare the cocktail.
  • In a shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Discard the ice water from your chilled glass. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Carefully top the strained mixture with the sparkling wine, pouring slowly to avoid overflow.
  • Add a lime wheel or twist on the rim of the glass for an elegant touch.

Notes

For a sweeter cocktail, adjust the amount of agave syrup to taste. This drink can also be made with flavored tequila for an additional twist.
