Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Port Wine
  • 1 oz Brandy
  • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup optional, to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Chill a coupe or cocktail glass by filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.
  • In a mixing glass, add the port wine and brandy. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add the simple syrup as well.
  • Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to the top.
  • Stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled and combined.
  • Discard the ice water from the chilled glass. Using a strainer, pour the chilled mixture into the glass.
  • Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and then place it in the glass as a garnish.

Notes

For a more robust flavor, consider using a tawny port, which adds nuttiness to the cocktail. Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup based on your preference.
