Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Scotch whisky
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice cubes
  • Maraschino cherry or lemon twist for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
  • In a mixing glass, combine the Scotch whisky, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.
  • Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to the brim.
  • Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.
  • Discard the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass. Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the mixture into the glass.
  • Finish with a maraschino cherry or a twist of lemon peel for garnish.

Notes

For a drier version of the Rob Roy, substitute the sweet vermouth with dry vermouth. Experiment with different brands of Scotch whisky to find your preferred flavor profile. Enjoy responsibly!
