Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Glass (rocks or margarita glass)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Mezcal
  • 1 oz Fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz Agave syrup
  • 2-3 slices fresh jalapeño adjust to taste
  • Salt for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Start by rimming your glass with lime juice and then dip it into salt to coat the rim. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh jalapeño slices. Use a muddler to gently press and release the oils from the jalapeño, being careful not to over-muddle as you want to avoid bitterness.
  • Pour in the mezcal, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup over the muddled jalapeño.
  • Add ice cubes to the shaker, cover, and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
  • Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and an additional slice of jalapeño if desired.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the number of jalapeño slices based on your spice tolerance. For a sweeter version, increase the agave syrup to taste. Enjoy responsibly!
