Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • spoon
  • Chilled glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz Triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 2 oz Orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Grenadine syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wheel or orange slice for garnish

Instructions

  • In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and orange juice with ice.
  • Shake well until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with ice.
  • Slowly pour the grenadine into the glass over the back of a spoon or by drizzling it down the side of the glass, allowing it to settle at the bottom and create a gradient effect.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or orange slice.

Notes

For a less sweet version, adjust the amount of grenadine or use a light agave syrup instead. To serve as a frozen cocktail, blend the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and orange juice with ice before layering with grenadine.
