  • 2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Orange Bitters
  • 1 twist Orange Peel for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Chill a cocktail glass by filling it with ice water while preparing the drink.
  • In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of rye whiskey, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of orange bitters.
  • Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to the brim.
  • Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and diluted.
  • Discard the ice water from your chilled cocktail glass. Using a strainer, pour the mixture into the glass.
  • Express the oils from a twist of orange peel over the drink, then drop it into the glass as a garnish.

Notes

The Roosevelt cocktail is a timeless drink that can be adjusted to taste. For a slightly sweeter version, increase the sweet vermouth. Alternatively, you can use bourbon instead of rye whiskey for a smoother profile.
