Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle red wine 750 ml / 25.4 fl oz
  • 1/2 cup brandy 120 ml / 4 fl oz
  • 1/4 cup orange juice 60 ml / 2 fl oz
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar 50 g / 1.76 oz
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 apple cored and chopped
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda 480 ml / 16 fl oz, optional
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange juice, and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Add the sliced orange, lemon, and chopped apple to the pitcher.
  • Chill the sangria in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Just before serving, stir in the sparkling water or club soda if desired for added effervescence.
  • Serve the sangria over ice cubes in glasses, making sure to include some of the fruit slices in each serving.

Notes

The fruit and sweetness level can be adjusted to taste. Sangria is traditionally made with red wine, but there are also white wine (Sangria Blanca) and sparkling wine (Cava Sangria) variations.
