Ingredients
  

  • 1 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Bénédictine
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Fill a mixing glass with ice.
  • Add the rye whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, and Bénédictine to the mixing glass.
  • Add the Angostura and Peychaud's bitters.
  • Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and combined.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist by expressing the oils over the drink and placing it in the glass.

Notes

The Vieux Carré is traditionally served over ice, but it can also be enjoyed straight up if preferred. Adjust the bitters to taste for a personalized touch.
