Vodka Julep
A refreshing twist on the classic Mint Julep, the Vodka Julep swaps traditional bourbon for vodka, offering a lighter and crisper take on the Southern favorite.
Equipment
- Julep Cup or Rocks Glass
- Muddler
- Bar spoon
- Straw
Ingredients
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
- 8-10 Fresh Mint Leaves
- Crushed Ice
- Mint Sprig for garnish
Instructions
- Gently muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup in a julep cup or rocks glass to release the mint oils.
- Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
- Pour in the vodka over the ice.
- Stir until the glass becomes frosty.
- Top up with more crushed ice to form an ice dome.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint.
- Serve immediately with a straw.
Notes
To make a simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cool before using in the cocktail.
