Vodka Sangria

A refreshing twist on the classic Spanish sangria, Vodka Sangria combines the fruitiness of traditional sangria with the smooth kick of vodka. It's perfect for summer parties and gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle dry red wine 750 ml – approximately 25.4 ounces
  • 1/2 cup vodka 120 ml
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec, 60 ml
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice 30 ml
  • 2 tbsp simple syrup equal parts sugar and water, 30 ml
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 lime thinly sliced
  • 1 apple cored and chopped
  • 1 cup fresh berries such as strawberries or raspberries, 150 g
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Club soda or sparkling water optional for topping up

Instructions
 

  • In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, vodka, orange liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Add the sliced orange, lemon, lime, chopped apple, and berries to the mixture.
  • Stir well to combine and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld. For best results, let it sit for 2-4 hours.
  • When ready to serve, stir the sangria again and taste for sweetness, adjusting if necessary.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some fruit in each glass.
  • If desired, top each glass with a splash of club soda or sparkling water for some added fizz.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, replace the wine and vodka with grape juice and a splash of lemon-lime soda. Adjust the sweetness as needed.
