  • Coupe or cocktail glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters
  • 1 dash Absinthe or pastis

Ice

  • 1 twist Orange for garnish

Instructions

  • Begin by chilling a coupe or cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.
  • In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of rye whiskey, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 1 dash of orange bitters.
  • Rinse the chilled glass with a dash of absinthe. To do this, pour a small amount into the glass, swirl it around to coat the inside, and then discard the excess.
  • Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared coupe or cocktail glass.
  • Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink and drop it in as a garnish.

Notes

For a more aromatic version, consider using a higher-quality rye whiskey and a premium sweet vermouth. Adjust the dash of orange bitters to your taste preference for a more pronounced citrus flavor.
