Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz White Rum
  • 3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice

  • 1/4 oz Simple Syrup optional, traditionally omitted for Hemingway's preference
  • Ice Cubes

Instructions
 

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  • Pour in the white rum, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, and simple syrup if using.
  • Shake vigorously until well chilled.
  • Strain into a chilled double old-fashioned glass or a cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or a grapefruit twist if desired.

Notes

The Papa Doble can be adjusted to taste, with some preferring it without the simple syrup for a drier cocktail. Hemingway himself was said to have enjoyed it without any added sugar. It's crucial to use fresh lime and grapefruit juice for the best flavor profile.
