Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Glass

Ingredients

  • 4-5 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges about 1 oz or 30 ml of fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 2 oz white rum
  • 3 oz dry white wine
  • Club soda, to top up
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  • Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture.
  • Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the white rum and white wine over the ice, and fill the glass with club soda.
  • Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

Notes

For a sweeter Mojito, increase the amount of sugar or use simple syrup. To make it less potent, decrease the amount of white rum. Always use fresh mint and lime for the best flavor. The type of white wine can alter the taste significantly, so choose a dry white wine that you enjoy drinking on its own.
